John was the KBPK Sports Broadcaster of the Year in 2000.  During his time at KBPK, he called play-by-play for every sport that aired on the station. The list included Division I women's basketball, softball and soccer, Division I men's soccer during coverage of Cal State Fullerton sports.  He picked additional collegiate experience for broadcasts of Chapman University's Division III men's and women's basketball, Division III baseball, including the regional qualifying tournament.  John was well versed in

calling the action for community college and high school football, basketball, and baseball.  He also did play-by-play for Adelphia Cable covering high school football and boxing for the 2000 Fall season.

In September 2001, John became the Sports Director at 1460 AM, KLTC Dickenson, North Dakota. His duties not only include play-by-play for the local college and high school teams, but he is also an Account Executive for the station cluster in that market. John also hosts a two hour sports talk show, Dakota Sports Weekly. John likes the level of enthusiasm of area fans. "The crowds are really into the games, and the stands are packed!"
