Rod was the "Radio Rookie of the Year" and
"Broadcaster of the Year" at KBPK. One of the few to win both awards. He was a weekend DJ at KIKF FM Garden Grove, CA (KIK-FM) starting in 1994. Rod became the fulltime night gut at KHWY
Barstow, CA, entertaining Las Vegas bound travelers listen to the Highway Stations 98/99.
Mr. Morrison then jumped to KLLY FM Bakersfield, CA, joining KBPK alumnus Jason Griffin. Rod was the fulltime night slammer on "Kelly 95.3"
after it flipped to Pop Alternative.
Making his way back down the Grapevine, Rod joined the staff of KEZY Anaheim, CA as the Promotions Coordinator and a weekend air
personality. After the sale of the station and the change to "Mix 95.9", he was the Production Director and did weekends. Rod left Orange County for
Albuquerque, NM in 1999 for KMMG FM. There he did Middays and was the Production Director for American General Media's Albuquerque radio cluster. Rod even did Morning Drive on their Spanish station (aka Ricky
Del Rio). "I feel that the radio program at Fullerton College has helped me in my different jobs in radio." Rod said, "It has helped me develop my
commitment to excellence. The classes are close to what you experience in the real world."
UPDATE! Rod is now an AE (account executive) for Citadel Broadcasting's cluster of stations in the Los Angeles (95.5 KLOS, 790
KABC & The Dodger Radio Network) and he's doing voice work and production as the owner/operator of RBDB Media. He's busy.
